Multiple TV shows have received decent feedback in terms of their storyline and performances. The historical drama series Bridgerton falls in that list and it is common for the cast members of any such show to develop a close friendship with each other during the production phase.
The success of the Netflix show has led to the birth of a healthy friendship between two of the leads, Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton. However, the closeness has also led to rumors that there might be some kind of romance going on between both. It must be noted that none of the reports are true.
Nicola Coughlan’s friendship with Luke Newton does not seem to be ending so soon
Coughlan and Newton have shared the screen on Bridgerton and this is the reason why they have been supportive of each other on different occasions. The situation has been similar on the show where they were initially being featured on the background until they were promoted as the lead members.
Although the friendship still exists, Coughlan once claimed in an interview that she was scared to film a few sequences with Newton. Nicola specifically stated that she was scared to do a kissing scene but because she was familiar with everything related to Newton, things became easy for her.
The chemistry between Coughlan and Newton has been praised by critics and fans ever since the series premiered on Netflix. On the other hand, showrunner Jess Brownell has said in a conversation with an outlet that they are still working to know more about Pen and Colin. Considering that the casting process began in 2019, it has been almost five years since Nicola and Luke have been friends.
Luke Newton’s presence in Bridgerton has contributed to his overall success
Also known as Luke Paul Anthony Newton, the actor has got multiple credits under his name. The journey, however, started for him more than 10 years ago with The Cut, where he was seen as Luke Attwood.
He continued to appear in more shows and was praised for his flawless work on stage. His credits even include the 2018 horror film, Lake Placid: Legacy along with The Lodge, where he played the role of Ben Evans between 2016 and 2017.
It must be noted that Luke Newton has not been cast in any major theatrical film in his career. In his filmography, there are two short films and he has another project in his upcoming lineup, titled Viana: The Legend of the Golden Hearts. Among his achievements, he has been nominated once at the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Bridgerton has managed to bring a lot of viewers to Netflix after critics expressed their opinions towards Season 1. The popularity of the show did not slow down after this and it continued for another season.
Two more seasons are already on the way and the basic premise is set in the Regency era, focusing on a family that is dealing with issues like marriage during a very difficult period. The show has also led to a spin-off, which aired for six episodes in 2023.
